The IT Guy app

The IT Guy is the name of the Google sign-in app I use to connect my own YouTube channel to my own publishing tool. It’s a personal tool, not a public service.

What it is #

It’s a self-hosted Postiz install running at postiz.itguyeric.com. I use it to schedule and publish my own social posts and videos. I run it on a server I own.

Who uses it #

Just me. Eric Hendricks is the only user. It connects only to my own YouTube channels. Nobody else signs in, and it has no customers.

Why it asks for Google data #

I sign in with my own Google account and approve access to my own YouTube channel. The app uses that access to:

  • upload and schedule videos on my channel
  • read my channel and video data
  • read my channel analytics
  • show which Google account is connected (name, email and profile)

What it stores #

The sign-in tokens live in the Postiz database on my server. I don’t share them, sell them or use them for ads.

How to disconnect #

I can disconnect the channel in Postiz at any time. You can also revoke access for any app on your own account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
